Scott Westrup

Scott R. Westrup, age 43, of Hanover, Minnesota passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta. Scotts courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer is over.
He was born on November 13, 1970 in St. Cloud, Minnesota and grew up in Cold Spring, Minnesota attending St. Boniface Grade School and ROCORI High School. During those years, he participated in sports and music in addition to academics. He was an original member of St. Johns Boy Choir and was cast in the title role of his class play as well as being a member of 2 National Champion ROCORI drum lines and co-captain of the football team.
Following High School, he attended The University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business graduating in four years with a bachelors degree in Marketing.
After graduation, he married his High School sweetheart Kim on September 18, 1993 at Mary of The Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters: Megan and Brianna.
Originally making their home in Rockford, Scott worked for Fingerhut, Carlson Companies and most recently United HealthCare as a marketing manager. His passion, aside from providing for his girls, was attending their musical and athletic events at Rockford schools, taking them camping, fishing, boating and spending quality fun time with them whenever possible.
A dedicated Vikings, Gophers and Twins fan, he was often successful in fantasy leagues always keeping up with the latest sports news.
Music was also important in Scotts life. Performing on stage with Club Bands since age 16, Scott was an accomplished drummer most recently performing his own group Swamp Fox in the West Metro area.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years: Kim; his daughters: Megan 18 and Brianna 14; parents: Ron & Anita Westrup; a sister: Molly (Bill) Schumal; nephews: Jacob (Tucker) and Charles Schumal; other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Scott Westrup will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 20000 County Road #10, in Corcoran.
A time of gathering will be held on Friday, January 24th from 4-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. A further time of gathering will be held at the church on Saturday morning, January 25th one hour prior to Mass.
