Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Dec. 10, for the Feb. 1 Snowflake Luncheon, featuring entertainment by CODA and many door prizes. The General Federated Women’s Club of Delano will offer this event at the Delano American Legion, located on Bridge Avenue at Highway 12.
CODA is back for a return engagement, after entertaining at the 2006 luncheon. CODA consists of a saxophone-keyboard duo who have been performing throughout the Twin Cities and nationally for more than 17 years. Scott Dorff plays soprano, alto and tenor saxophones and Malcolm Anderson plays piano and keyboards.
The duo has performed for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves for suite holders at the Target Center, two United States presidents and numerous other political figures, public venues for cities throughout the metro area, corporate receptions, churches of almost every denomination and private parties.
CODA has released five CDs consisting of smooth jazz, popular, swing, Dixieland, gospel, holiday and numerous original compositions.
The luncheon is a major fundraising event for the General Federated Women’s Club of Delano. Funds are used for community improvement projects. Past projects include the gazebo in Delano Central Park, renovation of the Delano Public Library, citywide recycling program, park playground equipment, accessible walking paths around the Central Park gazebo, city beautification and riverfront park development. The 2013-2014 project is the Delano Middle School auditorium renovation.
