Rogers to receive $109,000 in sports grants

The city of Rogers was a big winner in recent Hennepin County Board action related to the Hennepin Youth Sports Program.

The board approved $1,850,000 in Youth Sports grants for 2014. The Hennepin Youth Sports Program awards capital grants to build, repair, renovate or expand youth sports facilities in Hennepin County.

Eleven projects will receive facilities grants for 2014, including $105,000 for field lighting and storm shelter at North Community Park in Rogers.

Nineteen projects will receive small equipment grants, including $4,000 for goals, nets and training aids at Rogers High School.

An additional $125,000 Hennepin Youth Sports Grants will be made available for a second round of 2014 equipment grants.
