Greenfield home destroyed in 3-alarm fire on New Year’s Eve

Late in the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 31, at approximately 9:22 p.m., the Rockford Fire Department received a page for a house fire located on the 6600 block of Hidden Lane in Greenfield.

The department responded, arriving on the scene at 9:28 p.m.. It was joined in mutual aid by the fire departments of Delano, Loretto, Hanover, Maple Plain, Buffalo, St. Michael, Hamel and Rogers. Upon arrival, firefighters found the homes garage fully engulfed in flames and spreading into the house.

The home, which belongs to Dan and Diane Lowe, is considered a loss, and the source or the fire is still under investigation. Combined department efforts extinguished the flames in about six hours under sub-zero conditions. The occupants of the home were able to exit safely, and two dogs were rescued from the burning residence. The Red Cross is assisting the family in finding temporary living quarters.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
