A School and Student Advocacy Boot Camp will begin Monday, Jan. 13. This three-part series will introduce participants to getting started in student and school advocacy efforts.
Osseo Area Schools, Robbinsdale Area Schools and Hopkins Public Schools are partnering with Parents United for Public Schools. Sessions will be presented by Mary Cecconi, director of Parents United. Sessions include:
• “Minnesota Legislature: What is the relationship between the legislature and my school?” is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Robbinsdale Education Service Center, 4148 Winnetka Ave. N., New Hope.
• “School Governance and Funding: How is my school funded and who is responsible?” is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Osseo Area Schools Education Service Center, 11200 93rd Ave. N., Maple Grove.
• “Citizen Advocacy: Why do we need advocates?” is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. March 10, at Eisenhower Community Center, 1001 Highway 7, Hopkins.
