The Rogers girls rallied in the second half pulled out a 52-51 win over Dassel-Cokato on Friday evening in Cokato.
Down 30-21 at the break, the Royals took the lead in the last two minutes. Up 52-49 in the closing seconds, they gave up a basket and the Chargers got the ball back on a tie-up with four seconds left. But D-C’s shooter had to shoot over Marina Nowak’s defense and missed.
“We went to a two-three zone in the second half and contested their shots more,” said Royal coach Karlee Anderson. “In the first half our shots were going in and out, too.”
Three-point shooting boosted the Royals as Taylor Paulsrud was 3-for-5 in scoring 11 points and Taylor Anderson 2-for-4 for her six points. Bailey Miller scored 10 points while Nowak and Lindsay Dorr each snagged 11 rebounds.
The Royals take a 6-3 record and 3-game win streak into their Mississippi 8 Conference opener at defending champion St. Michael-Albertville. The Chargers dropped to 5-3.
