Early childhood screening required for all kindergarteners

Osseo Area Schools offers 2 locations for appointments

With kindergarten enrollment underway in January, it’s important that all children eligible to attend kindergarten in the 2014-15 school year complete an early childhood screening. Osseo Area Schools provides this free developmental check-up, which is required by the State of Minnesota, for all preschool-aged children ages three through five. Screenings are age-based, so it is not necessary to wait until a child is five to make an appointment.

Screenings last about 45 to 60 minutes and include a height, weight, vision and hearing check, development progress check, an immunization and family information review, and an individual consultation with parents regarding the child’s profess and any identified needs.

Osseo Area Schools offers screenings at two locations: Arbor View Early Childhood Center, 9401 Fernbrook Lane in Maple Grove and Willow Lane Early Childhood Center, 7020 Perry Ave. North in Brooklyn Center. Make an appointment by calling 763-391-8776.
