The Leaders of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow Award recognizes an individual who seeks improvement in the community and identifies barriers that may be challenging while seeking advancement and endeavoring to better the community. Chang earned the Most Outstanding Leader Award for embodying the most leadership characteristics out of the applicants. Chang was nominated for the award by Park Center teachers Pang Yang and May Vang, along with parents of some of her former students.

“This is not only for me, but for the Hmong students and families of Osseo Area Schools who have allowed me to make a difference,” Chang said.

The Hmong Higher Education Scholars Program is a newly formed program at the Lao Family Community, Inc. of Minnesota.
