Crimson gymnasts split opening conference meets

The returning varsity gymnasts from last year are Alex Kara, Alex Ducosin, Kate Aase, Ashley Song and Krista Brumm. Courtney Latterell was out all last year due to knee surgery and Natalie Young is new to the team. The Crimson team hasother gymnasts out with injuries as well and should be returning soon.

The Maple Grove gymnastics team lost to Elk River and defeated Anoka in the opening week of the 2013-14 season.

The Crimson scored 130.2 to Elk River’s 134.7 Dec. 6. Kara won all four events and the all-around title to lead the way.

Vault: 1. Kara 8.575, 2. Latterell 8.4, 3. Brumm 8.3

Bars: 1. Aase 8.25, 2. Latterell 7.85, 3. Brumm 7.8

Beam: 1. Kara 8.15, 2. Song 8.1, 3. Aase 7.9

Floor: 1. Kara 8.625, 2. Ducosin 8.55, 3. Brumm 8.35

All Around – 1. Kara 32.55, Latterell 31.60

 

The Crimson outpointed Anoka in a regular season meet Dec. 12. Kara won the vault and the all-around, Aase took first on the bars and Young won the beam and floor.
