PUBLICATION SUMMARY ORDINANCE NO. 734
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO REGISTRATION AND
REGULATION OF VACANT BUILDINGS AMENDING CITY CODE CHAPTER 106
The full and complete amendments relating to vacant building registration (VBR) requirements are set forth in this ordinance.
The VBR program requires vacant buildings, residential and non-residential, to be registered by their owner within 60-days of becoming unoccupied. By definition, condominiums and townhomes are considered a building.
The proposed amendments eliminate the registration fee for vacant buildings that are not 1) unsecure, 2) unsafe, 3) posted for no occupancy or unfit for human habitation, 4) condemned and illegally occupied, 5) abandoned, 6) having more than one code violation, or 7) having gone unregistered after a 60-day notice.
