The Maple Grove Police Department has announced that the city of Maple Grove earned first place, nationally, for its participation in National Night Out 2013.
On Aug. 6, the city of Maple Grove competed against 33 other ranked communities across the United States with populations between 50,000 to 99,999 residents.
National Night Out was created in 1984 and originally 2.5 million Americans and 400 communities in 23 states participated. Presently, over 37 million people and 16,000 communities in all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide participate in, “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
The Maple Grove Police Department would like to thank the thousands of people from the community, businesses, and supporters who helped make National Night Out 2013 a success.
