Norman Barthel

Norman J. Barthel, age 87, of Garrison & formerly of Albertville passed away on Thursday, December 5th, 2013 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
He was born on March 23, 1926 in St. Michael the son of Albert & Lena Kasper Barthel.
Norman graduated from Elk River High School.
He was formerly employed at and retired from Honeywell. He also formerly worked at The Rockford Bakery and had owned & operated The St. Michael Cafe;.
He was a good cook, enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, music and was a people person!
Norman was a past member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertville, Minnesota and belonged to Our Lady of Fatima in Garrison, Minnesota. He also belonged to The Garrison Senior Citizens and to The Garrison Lions Club. He established Dorothys Rainbow Foundation.
Survived by brothers & sisters: Beno (Margaret) Barthel of Anoka, Donald Barthel & Louis (Sylvia) Barthel all of Albertville, Verena Zachman of St. Michael, Catherine Elsenpeter of Buffalo and Betty (Harvey) Zahler of St. Michael; stepson: Gary (Kathy) Lovelin of Garrison; 3 step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents: Albert & Lena Barthel, wives: Agnes & Dorothy, sisters & brothers: Alicetine Schroepfer, Clarence & Aloys Barthel, Florence Isenberg, Cecelia Fish and Ernest Barthel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Norman Barthel was held on Saturday, December 14th at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville. Father Peter Richards was the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Albert Cemetery.
Casket Bearers were Mark Zachman, George Elsenpeter, Charles Isenberg, Rodney Barthel, Dennis Barthel and Ted Barthel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
