David Osmek (R-Mound), who represents State Senate District 33, has received the “Best Friend of the Taxpayer Award” by the Taxpayers League of Minnesota for his votes on key tax and spending initiatives in the 2013 legislative session. In order to earn this distinction, senators or representatives must score 100 percent on the annual legislative scorecard and sign the Taxpayers League’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
“Thank you to the Taxpayers League of Minnesota for this honor,” Osmek said. “My votes in the 2013 legislative session are a strong reflection of my record of public service, which is a firm commitment to always making tax increases the last resort, not the first choice.”
He added, “In this year’s session, Governor Dayton and his allies took the easy way out, raising taxes on every hardworking, taxpaying Minnesotan. Rich or poor, we’re all going to pay more and get very little in return. We can do better than this and we should all expect more from our government.”
The Taxpayers League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan grassroots advocacy organization that focuses on lower taxes and limited government. Osmek was the only senator to receive the “Best Friend of the Taxpayer” award in 2013.
Osmek is serving his first term in the Minnesota State Senate. He encourages and appreciates constituent input, and can be reached at 651-296-1282. By mail to 19 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. St. Paul, MN 55115, or via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
