The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Trails, is proposing to purchase an existing property on Diamond Lake in the City of Dayton, described as part of Government Lot 4 of Section 17, Township 120 North, Range 22 West, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The property, which contains approximately 635 feet of lake shore within 4.26 acres, is located immediately adjacent to the existing DNR public water access on Diamond Lake.
DNR proposes to acquire the referenced property to work cooperatively with the City of Dayton to relocate, reconfigure, and improve the existing public water access site. The existing access site is inadequate to the demands for public use of Diamond Lake, and lacks the area required to improve safety, address shoreline and stormwater runoff issues, and provide for effective boat launching and trailer parking facilities. In concept, an improved public water access on Diamond Lake would consist of a single concrete ramp with boarding dock, a parking area with car/trailer spaces, and design features for managing storm water runoff and aquatic invasive species. Specific site components will be determined during the facility design process.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Trails, will accept public comment concerning this proposed acquisition until Thursday December 12. Written comments may be sent to MN DNR, Division of Parks & Trails, 1200 Warner Rd, St. Paul, MN 55106, Attn: Paul Purman, or email comments to [email protected] Questions or requests for additional information to the above email address or 651.259.5874.
