The Rogers Royals notched an early power play goal and went on to defeat Sauk Rapids-Rice 2-0 at home Friday evening.
Madison Lehn scored 5:57 into the game, assisted by Cassie Conrad. The Royals made it 2-0 in the second period when Kayla Bolster came through with an assist by Paetyn Levis.
Michelle Klimstra made 27 saves in the shutout. The Royals (2-1) were to play at Princeton Nov. 19.
In previous action, the Mahtomedi Zephyrs got two goals from Emma Bartholemew and handed the Rogers Royals a 3-1 loss Nov. 12.
Rogers (1-1) was down 3-0 when Gabrielle Billing got them on the board with a power-play goal at 5:26 of the third period, assisted by Paetyn Levis.
Barthelomew scored even-strength in the first period and short-handed in the second period. Chrissy Rothmanner hit a power-play goal in the second period.
Mahtomedi had four penalties, Rogers three. The Zephyrs had 34 shots to Rogers’ 25. In goal were Johanna Ficcadenti for Mahtomedi (24 saves) and Michelle Klimstra for Rogers (31 saves).
