A 7-0 victory over North Metro was a good way for the area girls hockey team to start the season.

Senior co-captain Lindsay Roethke powered the offense by netting four goals, including the first one just 48 seconds into the game.

Abby Halluska provided two short-handed goals in the first period and Allison Roethke scored the other goal. Junior goalie Kendra Carlson earned a shutout in her first varsity game.

Coach Ray Dahlof said defenders Paige Blizil, Ali Klein, Shyanne Lambrecht and Kirsten Olson played well throughout the game. Most of the defenders are first year varsity players.

The team that includes players from Delano, Rockford and Buffalo travel to East Bethel to face St. Francis/North Branch, 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The next home game is against South St. Paul, 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Buffalo Arena.
