2 Crimson qualify for state cross country

Junior Mitchell Dickerson and senior Sean Heaton will represent Maple Grove in this Saturday’s state cross country meet in Northfield.

Dickerson and Heaton ran side-by-side to the finish line,  with Dickerson taking fourth and Heaton fifth.

As a team the Crimson were one spot from qualifying as a team as they took third with 103 points, behind  champion Centennial (71) and Mounds View (78).

Maple Grove finishers: 4. Dickerson, 16:09.3; 5. Heaton, 16:09.4 , 17.  Alex Miley, 16:33.2, 30. Ryan Peterson, 17:00.5, 47. Ken Ellingsen, 17:26.0, 58.  Collin Clark, 17:35.8, 60. Greg Brasier, 17:37.5.

In the girls’ race, Crimson seventh grader Alexi Miller came close to state qualification by taking 13th in a personal-best time. Senior Kendall Johnson came in 23rd. Maple Grove took sixth place in the team race.
