The West Hennepin Public Safety Department responded to the following calls between Sept. 19 and Sept. 30 in Independence and Maple Plain.
Sept. 30, 12:55 a.m. at county roads 6 and 83. Jeffrey David Theis, 33, of Plymouth, second-degree DWI, blood alcohol content 0.25. Vehicle pending forfeiture.
Sept. 29, 2:47 p.m. at County Line Road and Highway 12. Debra Carol Tolbert, 41, of Long Lake. Third-degree DWI, blood alcohol content 0.30.
Sept. 28, 8:59 p.m. in 7000 block of Highway 12. Andrew Daniel McMahon, 20, of Kandiyohi, third-degree DWI, blood alcohol content 0.22 and open bottle.
Sept. 27, 5:01 p.m. Reported a black vehicle turned off of County Road 90 and County Road 6 into a field road. Vehicle then was backed up and went westbound on County Road 6. Driver said she was geocaching and drove partway down the cart way road because her GPS map showed it was a road. As she drove down the cart way, she realized it was not a road and backed out.
Sept. 27, 11:28 a.m. Theft of iPod from vehicle in 1500 block of County Road 90. Approximate loss $150.
Sept. 26, 8:38 p.m. in 5100 block of Fern Drive. Complaint of excavator being used late at night. Equipment owner apologized. Said it was used later than he planned. He was trying to get work down before more dirt was delivered.
Sept. 26, 6:47 a.m. Received call for an occupied suspicious vehicle with a trailer, parked at the end of driveway in 1400 block of Copeland Road. Vehicle had out-of-state license plates. Officer found 48-year-old Lindstrom driver sleeping in vehicle. Driver said he was waiting for his cousin to wake up. He had not told her what day or time he was going to arrive, nor his vehicle information.
Sept. 25, 2:25 p.m. Caller reported a male driver who had his head back and his mouth was open in vehicle alongside road at county roads 19 and 6. Officer pulled in behind the vehicle with his siren on. Driver did not move. Officer observed the driver’s head was tilted back, his skin was pale, white and his mouth was wide open. Officer knocked on window. The 65-year-old Tonka Bay male woke up and was startled by the officers’ presence. Driver said he was tired after playing a round of golf so he pulled over to take a quick nap. All was OK.
Sept. 21, 2:33 p.m. Victim, walking her dog on a leash in 3400 block of Lake Sarah Road, was met by another female walking two dogs on leashes. Victim said the dogs dragged the female across the road, knocked her over and attacked her dog. The victim’s dog was taken to the vet with injuries.
Sept. 20, 7:32 p.m. at Highway 12 and County Road 92. John Alexander Dekarski, 32, of Delano, fourth-degree DWI, blood alcohol content 0.08.
Sept. 20, 8:45 a.m. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossing had damage at 1900 block of County Road 90. Concrete chunks were approximately 100 feet east of intersection and the angle iron frame of the northbound roadway was bent and protruding over the rail. Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m. Complaint of rider on a four-wheeler throwing beer cans and driving “crazy” in area of Independence Road, Koch’s Crossing and Pagenkopf Road. Witness said four-wheeler came around the corner just before the bridge on Pagenkopf Road, went up on two wheels, looked like the rider was going to lose control, almost hit a fisherman on the bridge, then continued down the road. Rider was located. Rusty William Baumeister, 32, of Independence, received a citation for careless driving.
Sept. 30, 12:25 p.m. Flagpole and flag found lying across a bike rack in 5100 block of Main Street East. Pole blew over in storm. Owner is city of Maple Plain.
Sept. 29, 8:09 a.m. Theft of copper from a truck in 5300 block of Bryantwood Drive. Approximate loss $3,500.
Sept. 23, 4:10 p.m. at 1500 block of Howard Avenue. Caller said her birthday was coming up, and she was concerned someone may give her food that has drugs in it. She was advised to not accept the food.
Sept. 23, 2:29 p.m. Owner said her purse was missing or stolen. Unknown if it was left at a restaurant in Plymouth or stolen from her vehicle in 5200 block of Clayton Drive. Victim’s wallet with her driver’s license and debit card were in handmade purse.
Sept. 21, 12:41 p.m. Received call for property damage at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossing on County Road 19 near Oak Street. Metal and large piece of rubber were against the track. BNSF said cattle guard on an eastbound train had dropped down, was riding on the tracks and caused quite a bit of damage between Independence, Maple Plain and Minneapolis. Sept. 19, 4:44 p.m. Report that a white SUV with male driver had almost hit a few kids who were walking in the entrance of the parking lot at 5200 block of Manchester Drive. Neither the driver nor the vehicle was found.
