Rogers Police respond to young children left in car

Rogers Police have forwarded to the city attorney a case involving a parent who left two young children in a car.

Officers were approached Tuesday, Oct. 8, by a witness about two small children unattended inside a running vehicle with the window partly down at 14165 James Rd.

The witness stated the two children were inside the car for approximately 5 minutes before she made contact with officers. Officers arrived on scene and witnessed two small children inside a running car with no supervision.

Police said the 6-month-old baby was crying and sweating profusely due to the sun beating down on him inside the vehicle. The 18-month-old child was playing with her bottle. The 6-month-old baby was removed from the vehicle, which he was completely wet due to the sweat.

Police said the mother returned approximately 15 to 20 minutes later. The mother was advised of the situation and was informed that Child Protection would be contacted.

The case will be forwarded to the Rogers City Attorney for possible Child Neglect Charges.
