The Orioles boys’ soccer team lost to Prairie Seeds Academy 1-0 in the section quarterfinal Oct. 8.

The game was close all the way and Osseo had its chances. But as in their previous six losses, the Orioles could not finish their scoring chances. That proved fatal as the Lycans scored the winning goals with 5 minutes left to play.

The loss ended a rebound season for the Orioles, who finished  6-8-1 after winning only one match in 2012. In fact, the Orioles’ record could be much better. They were riding high and scoring goals in bunches in building a 6-1-1 record after a 5-2 win over Coon Rapids Sept. 17. But they ran into a scoring drought and lost their final seven games, five of them by 1-2 scores, one by 0-1 and one by 1-3.

The Orioles will try to build on this year’s success in 2014.
