The Champlin Environmental Resources Commission is hosting a fall leaf clean up event Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Champlin Community Center located at 12450 Gettysburg Ave. Join the Champlin Environmental Resources Commission (ERC) as we protect our water quality by raking and removing leaves from our parks and open spaces. When grass and leaves travel to waterways through storm drains, phosphorus is created by the decaying leaves, turning clear water green with algae. This depletes oxygen levels in the water, making it hard for fish and other water animals to survive.
The event will kick-off at 9 a.m. at the Community Center and staff will be available until noon to hand out yard waste bags and provide clean-up location directions. We will provide trash bags. We ask that you bring your own rake and gloves. To register yourself or your service club contact City Clerk Roberta Colotti at [email protected] or 763-923-7111.
