Delano Heritage Festival weathers the weather

Nasty weather forced parts of Delano Heritage Festival to go inside during the traditional community celebration, Saturday, Sept. 28. The band 45 RPM played inside the Delano City Hall lobby, while many other events carried on outside on downtown streets. Todd Belz won the chili cook-off, and Jeff and Kathy Stempel, of Delano, emerged as winners of the medallion hunt. Messy rivalries have developed in the pie eating contest, and each year the Delano mayor takes on competitors.
