West Hennepin Public Safety Report

West Hennepin Public Safety responded to the following calls in Independence from Aug. 16-31.

Aug. 31, 8:13 p.m. A dog was found in the 300 block of Kuntz Drive. Dog was taken to Crossroads Animal Shelter. The next day a caller reported that she was dog sitting and the dog took off at night. Caller was advised the dog was taken to Crossroads.

Aug. 31, 1:24 p.m. Injured dog bit a female in the leg. Dog was transported to Golden Valley Emergency Veterinarian and victim drove herself to urgent care.

Aug. 30, 8:57 a.m. A door had been pried open with a pry-bar in 1000 block of County Road 92. Approximate damage to the door $700. Case under investigation.

Aug. 29, 9:14 p.m. Called to check large fire in 2000 block of Nelson Road. Property owner had just gone inside his residence and was going back out to the fire. The fire was checked and burn permit had been purchased. Property owner was advised he has to attend to fire as long as it is smoldering and showed him where it said that on the burn permit.

Aug. 28, 12:17 a.m. Resident in 15 block of Ingerson Road noticed a male inside his residence. He yelled at the male who grabbed a purse and ran out the door. The male was wearing a helmet over his face. The resident found the center consoles of two vehicles that were parked out in front of his residence had been gone through. Everything in the center console was pulled out and thrown about. Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab responded and processed the crime scene. A K-9 unit was brought out and followed the trail to the end of the driveway.

Aug. 26, 3:28 p.m. Stolen from Lewis Cemetery a 6-foot wrought iron planter. The planter has a heart at the top and extension arms that loop out at three different heights with solar lights hanging on each one. A basket hung from a branch that had several cactus plants on them. Case under investigation.

Aug. 25. A 19-year-old Delano male arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, small amount of marijuana in motor vehicle and possessing alcohol under age 21. An 18-year-old Delano male arrested for possession of small amount of marijuana in motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 17-year-old Delano male arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of small amount of marijuana in motor vehicle.

Aug. 25, 11:32 a.m. Stolen from 3700 block of Lake Haughey Road, collector silverware and coins.

Aug. 24, 12:40 a.m. Ryan Jonathan Brown, 28, of Rockford, fourth-degree DWI, 0.08 blood alcohol level. Near County Road 11 and County Road 92.

Aug. 23, 4:47 p.m. A 64-year-old Maple Plain male was stung by a hornet and was having an allergic reaction in 7400 block of Maple Ponds Trail. North Memorial Ambulance Paramedics administered an epinephrine pen and transported him to Buffalo Hospital.

Aug. 19, 1:03 p.m. Trespassing complaint in the 400 block of Kuntz Drive. Motorist located and 39-year-old Norwood Young American male admitted to soliciting to sell meat. He claimed he thought it would be OK to solicit in “the country” as they usually do not have ordinances against it.

Aug. 16, 2:21 p.m. A 17-year-old Minnetrista female was thrown from a horse into a wall and horse stepped on her ankle/foot in 8000 block of County Road 6. Rider had head and back pain and foot fracture and was airlifted by North Memorial Air Care to North Memorial Hospital.

Aug. 16, 9:45 a.m. Approximately $2,000 worth of jewelry stolen from residence in 6000 block of Fogelman Road.
