Mitch Steeves knocked in both goals as the Rogers Royals stayed unbeaten in conference with a 2-0 victory over the Buffalo Bison on Thursday evening in Buffalo.

This sets up a showdown for the Mississippi 8 lead against conference newcomer Chisago Lakes. Both teams are 4-0 in conference heading into a match Tuesday in Rogers at 7 p.m.

Steeves, a junior, scored from close range on a crossing pass from Isaac Aanerud in the first half. He drilled his second goal from the top of the 18 yard box in the second half with a feed from Mike Biah.

C.J. Rich was in goal for the shutout while center midfielders Griffin Johnson and Logan Olkon controlled the middle and distributed the ball effectively.

In earlier action, the Royals won 4-1 over the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets at Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Isaac Aanerud tallied two goals, giving him nine in the last five games. Mike Biah and Logan Olkon had the others.

Aanerud needed just 10 seconds after the opening kick to give the Royals a 1-0 lead with a well-struck shot from the side. That was the only goal of the first half, but Aanerud made it 2-0 with a penalty kick early in the second half after the Bluejackets were called for a hand ball in the box.

The Royals pulled away as Biah scored off a cross from Mitch Steeves, and Olkon scored an assist from Griffin Johnson.

The Royals improved to 5-6 overall (after an 0-5 start) and Buffalo fell to 2-2-1 in conference and 2-6-1 overall.
