They say you have to take the good with the bad.  The STMA Knights started the week strong with a 3-0 sweep of Chisago Lakes to pick up its first victory of the 2013 season.  In the first set, STMA won convincingly by the score of 25-14.  The second set proved a bit tougher, as the Wildcats showed no quit, taking a 23-14 set to 23-19 before the Knights sealed the deal.

The third set also featured the Knights getting off to a big lead and withstanding a Wildcats rally before putting the set, and the match, away 25-17.  Coach Ryan Dehnel praised how his team battled to the victory.

“The girls did a nice job of putting pressure on them serving,” Dehnel said.  There were key moments where Chisago Lakes went on runs.  During those times, he called timeout and told the girls not to panic.  Overall, he felt his team executed well, adding that it was nice to get a conference win at home, where the crowd adds to the atmosphere.
