The Rockford Public Library (located at 8220 Cedar St. in downtown Rockford) has some great free events this month with a little something for everyone.
The Rockford Public Library is beginning a Preschool Storytime series Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 11:15 a.m. to noon. This program for preschoolers includes crafts, activities, stories and songs. The series will continue on Wednesdays through the fall.
Intro to Digital Library
The library is offering an Introduction to the GRRL Digital Library on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This program for adults will explain how to download eBooks and eAudiobooks from the library. Basic computer knowledge is required. Participants will learn how to search the library catalog for eBooks, the formats supported, and all of the help options available for getting started. Because the digital library is compatible with hundreds of different devices, device-specific support will not be offered, but attendees are encouraged to bring their eReaders or tablets. The attendance limit is 10, and registration is required.
Author, naturalist and wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela will give a presentation on Uncommon Facts About Common Birds at the Rockford Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tekiela will present fascinating facts about some of the birds people love to hate. He will challenge your preconceived ideas about common birds such as the European starling and American crow. Tekiela is the author/photographer for numerous books, including well-known field guides for birds, trees, and mammals. This program is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Great River Regional Library (GRRL) provides library services at 32 public libraries in Central Minnesota and nearly 1 million books, CDs and DVDs, 250 public computers, programming and information services.
