Rockford Fire Department puts out call for volunteers

The Rockford Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members.

Since the early 1940’s, the department has relied on the citizens of Rockford and surrounding towns to keep the membership roster of the 100% percent volunteer department strong. Members come from all professions and share one common goal: Keeping the community and the Rockford fire district safe.

After joining, members will share challenges, camaraderie, and a sense of accomplishment that is second to none. All interested citizens will undergo comprehensive training through the Rockford Fire Department, and classes are available at night.

“Joining the department has been a very rewarding experience for me,” says long-time member Bill Decker.

For more information, visit the Rockford firehouse any Monday night after 6 p.m., call 763-458-8936 or go to

“When a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished.  What he does after that is all in the line of work.”
