Master Gardener program on preparing plants for winter is Sept. 21

Hennepin County Master Gardeners and the University of Minnesota Extension will host “Putting Your Yard and Garden to Bed” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 21, at Brookdale Library, 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center.

Late fall is the time to prepare yards and gardens for winter in Minnesota. Participants will learn about proper techniques of composting, pruning, protecting shrubs, winterizing roses and covering perennials. There will also be a discussion about landscape plants, which are admired for their beauty in winter.
