Cross country: Rogers boys 2nd, girls 3rd in opener at Champlin

The Rogers boys placed second and the girls third among four schools in a small two-mile race to open the season Friday, Aug. 23, hosted by Champlin Park.

The Blaine boys scored 30, Rogers 44, Orono 59 and Champlin Park 100. Orono’s Keith Ketola won with 10:39.

For Rogers, Reed Parent was third (10:44), Caleb Burke sixth  (11:09), Jake Wald 10th (11:21), Collin Young 11th (11:30) and Carl Parent 14th (11:35).

The Orono girls had 32 points, Champlin Park 53, Rogers 54 and Blaine 82. Orono’s Sarah Harrison won with 12:37.

For Rogers, Jackie Lindfors placed fourth (12:50), Jenna Karls eighth (13:28), Madison Mikolich 11th (13:40), Brittney Dorn 12th (13:42) and Leah Lyngren 19th (14:22).

Rogers will run Sept. 5 at Monticello.
