Hamel Lions Flea Market
SUNDAYS THROUGH OCT. 27 — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open on Sundays through Oct. 27 in the parking lot of the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Hwy. 55, Medina. WEDNESDAYS THROUGH OCT. — The Delano Farmers Market is open Wednesdays through October from 2 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Flippin’ Bills’, located on the corner of Highway 12 and County Line Road in Delano. THROUGH SEPT. 21 — The Delano Community Market is open 9 a.m. to noon, every Saturday from May 18 to Sept. 21 along River Street in downtown Delano. Holy Name Fall Festival
SEPT. 6 TO 8 — Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community is planning a three-day fall festival that will begin with the movie “We Bought a Zoo” at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at the church, 155 County Road 24 in Medina. Saturday’s plans include a 4 p.m. worship service, food and activities at 5 p.m., music by the Catholic Sonar band beginning at 6 p.m. and music by GB Leighton beginning at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. A golf tournament benefiting Holy Name of Jesus School and Faith Formation programs will take place Sunday, Sept. 8, at Pioneer Creek Golf Course, 705 Copeland Road in Independence. Rockford Township Cleanup Day

Dad’s Belgian Waffles
SEPT. 7 — A Dad’s Belgian Waffle breakfast Saturday, Sept. 7, will benefit the Delano Fire Relief Association and the Delano Senior Center. Waffles, sausages, flavored syrups and drinks will be served from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Delano City Hall, 234 Second Street N. Cost for adults is $7.50 in advance, $8.50 at the door. Cost for children ages five and under is $3. A silent auction will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Transportation is available by calling 763-972-0574. Delano street dance
SEPT. 7 — Butch Automatic and the Four Speeds will perform music from the early rock and roll era in a reunion concert Saturday, Sept. 7, during a street dance in front of Dave’s Town Club, 138 N. River St., Delano. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds will help fund upgrades to the Delano Middle School auditorium. The street dance reunites original members of the popular rock group that first performed locally in the 1970s. Advance tickets are available for $10 at the State Bank of Delano, Crow River Bank, Dave’s Town Club, Three Crows Coffee House, B’s on the River, Linnie’s Ice Cream, Delano American Legion and Doreen’s Hair Design. Tickets will cost $14 on the night of the concert.
Delano PIE – Lions Trap Shoot
SEPT. 7 — Delano Partners in Education (DPIE) and the Delano Lions will hold their ninth annual Benefit Trap Shoot from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 at Park Gun Club located near the intersection of Highway 12 and County Road 6. All proceeds will go to DPIE to support its activities. An entry fee of $40 for adults and $20 for students will pay for one 25 round shoot, food and drink. Additional rounds will be $10. The entry fee includes hamburgers, brats, other food items and beverages. Instruction will be available for beginning shooters.
Deer Hunters banquet
SEPT. 8 — The Wright County/West Metro Whitetails Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) will host its fall fund raiser banquet Sunday, Sept. 8, at the River City Extreme entertainment complex in Monticello. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and an hors d’oeurve buffet will begin at 4:30 p.m. Raffles, games, silent auction and free bowling will be available. Proceeds will go towards sending kids to the MDHA’s Forkhorn Camps and sponsorship of a youth-mentored deer hunt with Three Rivers Park District at Lake Rebecca Park. Tickets for adults are $20 for the buffet only or $45 for the buffet and MDHA membership. A $25 ticket for those 17 years old and under includes the buffet and one-year MDHA Forkhorn membership. Independence Heritage Fest
SEPT. 13 & 14 — Independence Heritage Fest will bring a pig roast, sports tournaments, and outdoor dance with live music to Pioneer Creek Park on County Road 90, Friday, Sept. 13, with events beginning at 3 p.m. Events will continue on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 to 5 p.m. with championship games in the Frisbee golf, horseshoe and volley ball tournaments.
