STMA girls tennis off to 3-0 start

The STMA girls tennis team is off to its first ever 3-0 start.

In the first round, STMA beat Park Center 7-0 In the second round the team beat Annandale 6-3 and in the third round beat Apollo 5-2.

“We’re very happy with how the kids competed today,” coach Jim Riles said. “We really had some inexperienced players step up and play well today.”

Singles: #1 Jessica Duda went 3-0; #2 Kiana Eystad went 3-0. “They both really showed their experience by winning the big points,” Riles said.

#3 Jolene Duda went 3-0 and #4 Missy Gust went 3-0. “They really played well in their first extended varsity action,” he said.

Doubles: #1 Brittany Haas / Emily Tschida went 1-2; #2 Anna Moritz / Brittney Grube went 2-1; #3 Maddy Schopf / Cory Eull went 3-0. “This was their first varsity action and they played very well together,” Riles said.

#4 Mackenzie Laterell / Annie Caron went 3-0 in their first varsity matches also.
