Heading into junior high can be an overwhelming experience for new seventh grade students. Maple Grove Junior High aims to make the transition go more smoothly through implementation of the WEB Leader program. WEB leaders are ninth grade students who are trained to help new students feel more comfortable in junior high. Students at Maple Grove Junior High attended two orientation days Aug. 13 and 14. During this time, WEB leaders helped lead team-building activities and focused on making students feel more at home at the Junior High. WEB stands for “Where Everybody Belongs.” Leaders help to emphasize this concept at orientation and throughout the school year. WEB leaders wear many hats throughout the school year: leader, mentor, friend, and advisor. The orientation and year-long activities also help the new seventh graders learn strategies to help them have a successful junior high experience.
