STMA Rotary Club is pleased to announce that Aaron Thomas has been named assistant district governor for Rotary District 5950’s Area 13. Thomas succeeds Bob Halagan of the Buffalo Rotary Club, who has accepted a new volunteer position as chair of the District Rotary Foundation Committee.
Thomas, who was president of the STMA Rotary Club in 2012-2013, is a partner with Copeland Buhl & Company P.L.L.P. He has had several leadership positions with the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club and has spearheaded numerous local Rotary projects, including the STRIVE mentoring program at STMA High School and a nature trail building project at the high school, for which he secured District 5950 grant funding.
Rotary District 5950’s Area 13 includes the St. Michael-Albertville, Monticello and Buffalo Rotary Clubs. As assistant district governor, Thomas will act as a liaison between these clubs and district leadership for a three-year term.
“It is an honor to be considered for this position, and I am very excited to serve the clubs of Area 13,” Thomas said. “Our clubs have a fantastic relationship. We have pooled our resources to complete several large international service projects, including building libraries in Cambodia and medical and school facilities in Guatemala. I am looking forward to continuing that tradition of service above self.”
The St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays in the Crow River Senior Center at the St. Michael City Center. For more information, visit www.stmarotary.org or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Guests and new members are always welcome.
