Rockford Area Schools recently announced that it has named Daniel Pratt as Activities Director, effective July 22.
Pratt, who succeeds Gary Palm (who held the position on an interim basis), will be responsible for overseeing Rockford area schools’ athletics, fine arts programs, clubs and activities, which serve approximately 800 students through more than twenty programs annually.
Pratt has more than 20 years of experience in education and athletics. Most recently he served as athletic director for Minneapolis Washburn High School where he has spent the last 13 years strengthening academic integration for student-athletes and building student engagement. He was responsible for operations of 24 sports and managing coaches, scheduling, facilities, event operations, and strength and conditioning. Pratt has coached girls varsity softball and boys varsity hockey. He also served as assistant hockey coach at St. Cloud State University in the mid-1980s.
Pratt will report to Paul Durand, Superintendent of Rockford Area Schools.
“I am delighted that Dan has accepted our offer to lead our growing activities department,” said Durand. “Dan’s principled leadership, dedication to student achievement, and relationship building skills, make him the ideal person to lead and bring innovation to our activities program.”
Pratt said, “I am thrilled to be joining such a great school district and staff. I look forward to continue to build on an already strong program that is committed to ensuring that athletic, club and fine arts activities fully address the diverse needs of all students.”
Rockford Area Schools serves students in both Wright and Hennepin Counties including the communities of Corcoran, Greenfield and Rockford. The passage of a successful $27 million bond election in the fall of 2012 has placed the renovation and construction of several activities related facilities as a high priority. Pratt has championed many similar site and facility improvements throughout his career as an activities director, and the district said his expertise and stable leadership will be invaluable as the Rockford Area Schools completes future bond related construction projects.
