Maple Grove celebrates National Night Out

Maple Grove Police, Maple Grove Fire, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, area officials and community members took part in the 30th annual National Night Out celebration Tuesday, Aug. 6. The city of Maple Grove, along with more than 15,000 communities nationwide, celebrated National Night Out.

The day kicked off in Maple Grove with a free BBQ lunch and emergency equipment show sponsored by the Maple Grove Police and Fire Departments at the Maple Grove Community Center. According to Maple Grove Crime Prevention Officer Todd Strege extra food needed to be ordered.

The Maple Grove Police and Fire Departments attended 140 National Night Out parties the evening of Aug. 6.

This year, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office personnel met with residents and visited events in Maple Grove among others. During their visits with residents, Sheriff’s Office personnel shared important safety information about responsible gun ownership. The Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office gave away more than 400 free gun locks to residents.
