Hamel Lions Flea Market

SUNDAYS THROUGH OCT. 27 — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open on Sundays through Oct. 27 in the parking lot of the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Hwy. 55, Medina. Bargain hunters can visit the market from 6 a.m. to noon. The Flea Market will be closed on May 12 and 19 and Aug. 11. Vendors will offer antiques, collectables, bargains, crafts, produce, plants, fall farmers market, and one of a kinds. Admission and parking are free. Vendor space costs $20 per spot. Delano Farmers Market

WEDNESDAYS THROUGH OCT. — The Delano Farmers Market is open Wednesdays through October from 2 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Flippin’ Bills’, located on the corner of Highway 12 and County Line Road in Delano. Shoppers will find freshly baked bread, local honey, maple syrup, pickles, farm fresh eggs, seasonal fruits and more when in season. A non-profit booth is available. Delano Community Market

THROUGH SEPT. 21 — The Delano Community Market is open 9 a.m. to noon, every Saturday from May 18 to Sept. 21 along River Street in downtown Delano. Visitors will find local food, artists, crafts, children’s activities, music and more. Visit the website at for information on special weekly events, chef demonstrations, Farmer of the Week and applying for vendor space. Anyone who is a gardener, farmer, painter, sculptor, jewelry maker, crafter, or community organization is invited to apply for a booth. On Aug, 3 the community booth will feature St. Peter’s School. Stork House Teen Night

AUG. 22 — Area teens are invited to attend Teen Night at the Stork House Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stork House (8131 Bridge St., Rockford). This event is ongoing Thursday evenings through Aug. 29. A meal is provided and well as speakers and hands-on projects focused on local history.

Delano Chamber of Commerce

AUG. 15 — Volunteers will be recognized at the Delano Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Apple Jack Orchards, 4875 37th St. S.E. in Delano. Library’s Dog Day Afternoons

AUG. 15 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, the golden retriever, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Annie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels. Country Daze

AUG. 16 TO 17 — The 10th annual Corcoran Country Daze is Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16 and 17, featuring free family fun, free live music, softball, classic car show, craft show, food and beer. Tim Mahoney Band plays Friday, Aug. 16, at 8:30 p.m. with opening act Lakeside Houdinis at 7:30 p.m. Hell Country Truckers plays Saturday, Aug. 17. Concerts are free with non-perishable food donation of cash donation for the food shelf. Concerts are from 8 p.m. to midnight. The Hope Community Church first annual 5K run is Saturday at 8:30 a.m., register at Free family day is Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring Euro bungee jumper, face painting/crazy hair, rock climbing wall, pony rides, build a birdhouse, kid’s games, inflatable toddler zone, North Air Car helicopter, police/fire/rescue exhibits, benefit volleyball tournament and NFL punt, pass and kick contest. Burschville Summerfest

AUG. 18 — Summerfest, held at the Burschville School located in Corcoran on County Rd. 10 Sunday, Aug. 18, from noon to 4:30 p.m. There will be old-fashioned music, “Those Pork Chops” food wagon, face painting by Naomi, school tours, kids games, door prizes and raffles. AUG. 18 — The St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church parish festival/turkey dinner is Sunday, Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 20000 County Rd. 10.

Delano Lions Golf Tourney

AUG. 19 — The Delano Lions Club will host its sixth annual golf tournament Monday, Aug. 19, at B’s on the River and River’s Edge Golf Course near Watertown. Registration starts at 1 p.m. Shotgun start is scheduled for 2 p.m. The event is a nine-hole scramble with four-player teams. Cost of $50 per person includes greens fee, cart and dinner. Women of Today

AUG. 19 — The Maple Grove Chapter of Women of Today hosts its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month. Delano Concert in the Park

AUG. 21 — The Delano Concert in the Park series will bring Route 55, a rock band, to the gazebo at Delano Central Park at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. The band from Maple Lake will perform classic Big Band and Jazz. Audience members are invited to bring food, lawn chairs and blankets to the park for the free concert, sponsored by Delano Community Education and the General Federated Women’s Club of Delano. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Delano Middle School Auditorium.

Golf Tournament

AUG. 23 ¬– Area residents are invited to join the Rocket Boosters at their annual Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 23 starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Shamrock golf course in Corcoran.

Movie in 

Riverside Park

AUG. 23 – The Sandlot will be shown in Riverside Park in Rockford at dusk (around 8:40 p.m.). In case of rain, the movie will show in the Rockford Fire Station (6700 Main St.). The Rockford Athletic Association is sponsoring this event and selling concessions. This is family friendly event, and a chair or blanket is recommended for your viewing pleasure.

St. Anne’s 

Street Dance  

AUG. 24, 25 — St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 200 Hamel Rd., Hamel will host a free street dance and the church’s annual festival the weekend of Aug. 24 and 25. Saturday, August 24 is the street dance featuring local country artist Shane Martin from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be inflatables for kids and a mechanical bull the adults. Food and drink will be available. Sunday, Aug. 25 is the parish festival. A chicken dinner with all the fixings will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Outside food and drink will be available. “Sonar Band” will provide music. There will be inflatables for kids, bingo, pull tabs, silent auction, country store, white elephant sale. At 4 p.m. a grand raffle drawing for 55 prizes will be held (need not be present to win). It’s Just Coffee

AUG. 27 — Come meet your Greenfield neighbors, share a cup of coffee and talk. Bring a friend and join in the fun.  It’s Just Coffee meets the last Tuesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. at Riverwood Covenant Church (7189 69th Ave. N). Your memories of Greenfield history are always welcome as this is also the home of The Greenfield Historical Society. Coffee and treats are provided.

Bivoli Folkdancing

AUG. 27 — Come and learn international dances that are fun and easy to learn. Bivoli Folkdancing will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month on the second floor of the Heritage Center, Bridge Avenue and Second Street in Delano. No experience or partner is necessary. Drop-in when ever you can and stay as long as you want. Bring a reusable water bottle and wear comfortable walking shoes. Cost is one dollar per session.

Flu Vaccine Clinic 

AUG. 29 — Rockford Area Schools is hosting a Community Flu Shot Clinic at the Rockford Community Center on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.

This clinic is being offered through the Minnesota Visiting Nurses Agency (MVNA), which will be offering either the flu shot or flu mist at this clinic and can bill your major health care insurance carrier directly. If you do not have insurance, the cost will depend on whether you receive the flu shot or flu mist.

Wow Van visit

AUG. 29 — The Wright County Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van will stop at BankWest in Rockford from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. WOW services include adult and child immunizations; health screening; blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks by appointment; pregnancy, health and wellness checks and child car seat checks by appointment.
