Delano lacrosse takes 1st in district

The Delano Rage U15 boys lacrosse team defeated Maple Grove 7-2 last week to earn the top spot in the Northwest District at 8-2.

Delano was scheduled to play either Elk River or Maple Grove Wednesday, after this issue went to press. The winner advances to the state tournament Aug. 3-4 in Eden Prairie.

We are tied state-wide with White Bear Lake and Spring Lake Park for the lowest goals allowed at 22 for the season,” said coach Damon Kocina.

Against Maple Grove, Reid Paczkowski scored twice with two assists. Other goals were netted by Josh Miller, Justin Daly, Chance Behne, Seth Hamlin and Nick Nystul.

Before topping MG, Delano avenged a loss to Elk River 3-1. Mitchell Durst scored two goals and Behne one. Goal tending was shared by Chase Dwinell in the first half and Garrett Durst in the second.

The team includes Ben Nelson, William Conard, Steven Hajas, Billy Emmer, Chase Carlson, Jacob Will, John Goebel, David Gerecke, Nikolas Kocina, Chad Stowell, Jacob McDonald, Parker Harju, Nolan Schaper, Lucas Mason, Christian Erickson, Cole Schansberg and Jack Lorentzen.
