Two road construction projects over the weekend will close parts of Highway 169 near Osseo and Maple Grove.
The first project will close Hwy. 169 Friday, July 26, from Brooklyn Park to Golden Valley.
Beginning July 26, motorists will encounter a weekend road closure and a detour on northbound Hwy. 169 as crews continue resurfacing the road. At 9 p.m. on July 26 northbound Hwy. 169 between Hwy. 55 and I-694/94 will close. Weather permitting, the roadway and associated ramps will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, July 29. This weekend’s closure is the second of four scheduled weekend closures of northbound Hwy. 169.
During the closure, motorists should use Interstates 694/94, 394, and 494 and Highway 100 as alternative routes. To sign up for electronic project updates or for more information, visit the project’s website at dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hwy169resurface/
The second project will have motorists traveling in Brooklyn Park this weekend encountering a detour on southbound Hwy. 169 between County Road 81 and Highway 610 as crews close the highway.
Beginning at 12 a.m. Saturday, July 27, crews will close the highway to set the beams for the new interchange at Hwy. 169 and County Road 30. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Sunday, July 28. Motorists should use Hwy. 610 and Highway 252 to bypass the closure.
The project, which began in early spring, includes reconstructing County Road 30 (93rd Ave. N.) to pass over Hwy. 169, eliminating the existing traffic signal there, constructing loop ramps in the northeast and northwest quadrants for access to and from Hwy. 169 to the south and providing bicycle and pedestrian trails along both sides of County Road 30. The project will improve safety and will help alleviate congestion on Hwy. 169 while making Hwy. 169 a freeway between Shakopee and Champlin.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-October.
