Maple Grove diver qualifies for nationals at her home pool

Lexi Tennebaum, a 2013 graduate of Maple Grove High School, is one of six Minnesota Diving Academy divers who have qualified for the USA Diving Junior and Age Group National Championships July 31 to Aug. 10 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Other members are Jenna Whitehead, Jordan Greenberg and Michael Hall and BOUNCE team members Alex Crow and Collin Larson.

Divers qualify for the Junior and Age Group National Championships as a result of performances at the Zone Championships (July 11 to 14) or at the East/West Championships held in the spring. The top six divers on each event at the zone meets who had not already qualified earn spots at the Junior National Championships; the next six finishers at zones advance to the Age Group Nationals.

Tenenbaum, who became Maple Grove’s first state diving champion in the 2013 state meet, qualified for the Junior National Championships on 1-meter and earned a spot in the Age Group National Championships on 3-meter and platform in the girls 16-18 age group after finishing 11th and ninth on those events at the Zone C Championships in Columbia, Mo., She will be diving for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers this fall.
