Hennepin County residents interested in county taxes and goverment operations are invited to register for the annual Citizens Academy.
The sessions will help residents better understand the scope of county government by giving attendees the chance to interact face-to-face with county leaders and elected officials, including the commissioners, the county administrator, sheriff, county attorney and department directors.
Behind-the-scenes tours also give residents the chance to see their county government in action.
Sessions will be held weekly at facilities throughout the county 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesdays Sept. 25 through Nov. 6. Each session will cover a variety of topics the county budget, elections process, transportation and road safety, environmental services and more.
Registration is due by Friday, Aug. 2. There are 50 seats available that will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
