Beat the heat at Maple Grove, Osseo Library events

Get out the heat and enjoy some time at the Maple Grove and Osseo libraries this July. Both libraries will offer events for the entire family.

The Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main St. N., will host the following events:

“Anime Showcase,” Thursday, July 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. — For teens. Don’t miss the chance to watch an amazing line-up of Japanese animation on the big screen. Anime Twin Cities has teamed up with the library to offer something for everyone. Cosplay is encouraged. Visit www.hclib.org/teens/AnimeManga or stop by the library for more information. “Make This: Art Posters,” Monday, July 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. — Register in advance. For those entering grades six to 12. Create vintage-looking handmade posters or broadsides of favorite bands, books and movies using visual arts materials and techniques. Drawing, painting, printmaking and collage techniques will be explored. Materials provided. Sponsored by Friends of the Maple Grove Library.

“Author Talk: Sally McGraw,” Monday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. — Learn about defining your ideal style and dressing your best, and how style impacts self-image. McGraw, author of “Already Pretty,” also will discuss Twin Cities shopping resources. Sponsored by Friends of the Maple Grove Library.

 

The Osseo Library, 415 Central Ave., will host the following events:

“Make This: Theatre Masks,” Tuesday, July 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. — Register in advance. For those entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Is the play your thing? Learn about the history and use of theatre masks. Participants will even create one using various arts and craft materials. Materials provided. Sponsored by Friends of the Osseo Library.
