Elizabeth Wilson-Sandberg, Jake Contreras and Summer Carlson are welcomed by Mexican students to a parade of confetti and cheers. The students, staff and families line-up and the Osseo students walk through greeting them and giving high fives. Judy Johnson, of the Maple Grove Rotary, and Alayna Marrero hand out bears to the Mexican students. Johnson knit 325 bears to give the Mexican students and their siblings since many of them have few or no toys. The students helped stuff and draw faces on the bears.

Several students from the Osseo School District went to Mexico this past school year to deliver school supplies to children. In Mexico, students must provide their own paper and pencils to attend school, so the supplies delivered by the District 279 students enable Mexican children to stay in school. Groups of students have been collecting and taking these annual trips since 2007.
