Hamel Lions Flea Market

SUNDAYS THROUGH OCT. 27 — The Hamel Lions Flea Market will be open on Sundays through Oct. 27 in the parking lot of the Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Hwy. 55, Medina. Bargain hunters can visit the market from 6 a.m. to noon. The Flea Market will be closed on May 12 and 19 and Aug. 11. Vendors will offer antiques, collectables, bargains, crafts, produce, plants, fall farmers market, and one of a kinds. Admission and parking are free. Vendor space costs $20 per spot. Delano Farmers Market

WEDNESDAYS THROUGH OCT. — The Delano Farmers Market is open Wednesdays through October from 2 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Flippin’ Bills’, located on the corner of Highway 12 and County Line Road in Delano. Shoppers will find freshly baked bread, local honey, maple syrup, pickles, farm fresh eggs, seasonal fruits and more when in season. A non-profit booth is available. Delano Community Market

THROUGH SEPT. 21 — The Delano Community Market is open 9 a.m. to noon, every Saturday from May 18 to Sept. 21 along River Street in downtown Delano. Visitors will find local food, artists, crafts, children’s activities, music and more. Anyone who is a gardener, farmer, painter, sculptor, jewelry maker, crafter, or community organization is invited to apply for a booth. Delano 4th of July Celebration

JULY 3 TO 6 — The annual Delano 4th of July celebration will run from Wednesday, July 3 through Saturday, July 6, with 10:30 p.m. fireworks closing out four days of events on Saturday. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on July 4. All roads to the parade route will be closed at 9 a.m. on July 4.

Indoor/Outdoor Rockford Occasional Sales

JULY 6 — The first Thursday and Saturday of the month (through Oct. 5) a cooperative of vendors will be selling handcrafted items, antiques, plants and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rockford Mall (west end of Rockford on the north side of Highway 55), rain or shine. Vendors are welcome and booths are free. Mark your calendars for these sales dates: July 6, Aug. 1 and 3, Sept. 5 and 7, Oct. 3 and 5. Raptors visit Delano Library  

JULY 9 — See birds of prey up close at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. An expert from the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center will be at the library, together with a an eagle, owl or hawk, to talk about how these birds live and survive in the wild.

Classic Tea for Teens

JULY 10 — Children ages nine to 14 are invited to a Classic Tea for Teens at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 10. The event is based on the classic books “The Secret Garden,” “Anne Of Green Gables,” and “Little Women.” Learn about how afternoon tea was popularized in England, enjoy traditional tea foods, create a beautiful Victorian-style paper fan and enter a drawing for a classic book. “Teatime Tillie” author Carla Rae Johnson will be hostess for this traditional event. Library pizza fund raiser

JULY 10 — UnHinged Pizza will host a fund raiser to benefit the Delano Public Library from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Delano City Park near the gazebo. Pizza slices will be sold for $1 each. Free pop and icy cold treats will be handed out. Alex the juggler will perform at 4:30 p.m., and the Bazillions will have an outdoor concert at 5:30 p.m. All pizza proceeds will be donated to the Delano Library and used for new books and materials. UnHinged Pizza is sponsoring the pizza fund raiser, and General Federated Women’s Club, of Delano is sponsoring the music concert. Everyone is invited.

JULY 11 TO 13 — Love INC – Heartland (Love In The Name of Christ) Gift and Thrift Store will offer bargains at a three-day alley sale on the east side of its building at 318 Railroad Avenue in Delano. The sale takes place Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. The non-profit agency will have a sale on items not normally found in its store, including children and adult sporting goods, furniture, lamps of all sizes, household items, antiques, wall décor, children’s toys and more. Hamel Rodeo

JULY 11 TO 14 — The Hamel Rodeo and Bull Ridin’ Bonanza will bring professional rodeo competitors to Corcoran Lions Park, located at County Roads 10 and 101, from Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 14. Proceeds will benefit the five community organizations that put on the event. Helping Hands Food Shelf

Library’s Dog Day Afternoons

JULY 18 — Cuddle up and read with Annie, the golden retriever, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. Annie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Sign ups are on the same day for 15 minutes of one on one reading time. The library will provide books of all reading levels. Color or do puzzles while you wait. Annie will be on hand the third Thursday of each month after school. Future dates are Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21.
