The final four teams advance to the championship round on Saturday, July 6 involving the top two teams from the two four-team pools. All games are at the Municipal field.

The winner of pool A faces the runner-up in B at 11 a.m. and the pool B winner faces the runner-up in A at 1 p.m. The third place game starts at 4 p.m. and the title game is at 7 p.m.

Delano is fresh from playing at the State Class AA tournament and only played a couple of Legion games so far. The coach is Adam Jaunich.

Dan Krause has directed the softball tournaments for about 10 years. He said the field is not set, but he expects the usual number of teams. The event has been attracting 12-14 men’s modified, 8-10 men’s Class D and below men’s slowpitch and 6-8 co-rec slowpitch teams.

Modified means fastpitch without the windmill swinging motion. Krause said it is basically throwing underhand as fast as you can.

Many of the teams will come from the leagues played at the Hollywood Sports Complex ear Watertown.

The schedule at the Delano tournament has modified teams playing at 6 p.m. Wednesday, 2 p.m. Thursday after the parade and all day Saturday starting at 8 a.m. at the main field by the beer tent at the park.

Co-rec teams play only on Thursday and the men’s slowpitch action is Thursday afternoon and all day Saturday on the two fields at the south end of the park.

Krause said he is always looking for youth to chase balls and help keep score and will be rewarded by some kid of perk. Find Dan at the field or ask an umpire if interested.

The bracket and updated scores will be on Delano’s July 4th celebration website. The entire softball event is sanctioned by the Minnesota Sports Federation and Amateur Softball Association (ASA).
