The Crimson earned their fourth NWSC Norwick Cup. The cup is awarded at the end of each school year to the high school performing best all-around in conference competition in every sport.
Only three schools have won this award in its 13 year history. Centennial has won it five times with Maple Grove and Elk River winning it four times.
All Crimson athletes had a hand in earning this all-sports championship. Top finishing teams included football, girls soccer, dance team, boys swimming, boys golf and softball along with four second place finishes.
Points are awarded based on its finish in the conference. Maple Grove earned 209.5 points with Elk River earning 192.5 and Andover and Blaine finishing third with 179.5 points each. The award is much like the True Team concept and shows the depth of the overall athletic program.
The championship school is presented with a traveling trophy, called the Norwick Cup, named after the conference’s long-time executive secretary Jim Norwick. The cup resides at the winning school through the next year and a plate is attached with the name of the winning school.
