Maple Grove issue crime alert

2 reports of assaults on park trails, paths

In the past nine days the Maple Grove Police Department has received two reports of assault where inappropriate touching has occurred on the park trails/paths within the city of Maple Grove.

The first incident occurred on June 10 in the 11500 block of W. Eagle Lake Drive at 5:30 p.m. The female victim was approached from behind and touched inappropriately. The suspect then immediately fled the area.

The second incident occurred on June 18 near Weaver Lake Road/I-94 (Rice Lake Trails) at 9:15 a.m. The female victim was also approached from behind, touched inappropriately, and the suspect immediately fled.

In each case the suspect has been described as a male with darker skin tone, 16- to 19-years-old, 170 pounds, medium length dark wavy or shaggy hair, wide-flat nose and no facial hair. After each incident the suspect has fled from the victims on foot to a blue bicycle nearby.

The Maple Grove Police is asking residents to be extra aware of their surroundings and call 911 immediately if they see any individuals matching the above description.
