OMGAA to host scholarship all-star baseball/softball tournament

The Osseo Maple Grove Athletic Association will host the second annual Maple Grove Scholarship All-Star Baseball and Softball Tournament and the Mike Parenteau Academic Scholarship Award ceremony Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, at the Maple Grove Junior High Field.

Events will be Friday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will at 11:45 a.m. Saturday. All events will be at the fields.

The OMGAA will be celebrating the Mike Parenteau Scholarship winners, in addition to having All Star games for its junior and senior league baseball teams, a Home Run Derby for the Junior League, and regular season games for the girls’ fastpitch teams. This year, OMGAA will also be featuring games from its Special Olympics’ adaptive softball teams.

Other entertainment and interactive events will include: a dunk tank, an inflatable play yard with basketball hoops, a pitching radar machine, a face painter and a massage therapist. There will be raffles with prizes including a tour of Target Field.

The OMGAA invites all community folks to come together for this important community event. For the past several years, the OMGAA has awarded $22,000 in scholarships grants. All proceeds will go directly into the scholarship fund for next year.
