Volunteers are still needed to be a part of a very important project to inventory all residential and business boulevard and front yard trees. Volunteers will not go into any backyards.
The emerald ash borer, an invasive pest that has already killed millions of ash trees in the northeastern United States, has made its way to Hennepin County, though it has not yet been sighted in Maple Grove.
In order to get a handle on what environmental and economic impact the bug will have when it does reach Maple Grove, the city needs to know how many trees it could affect.
If anyone can spare a few hours a week to inventory trees, call 763-494-6365 or go to www.maplegrovemn.gov/tree-inventory.
