Free meals available to children at 13 Anoka-Hennepin schools this summer

mmer thanks to the district’s Child Nutrition Program (CNP) and United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Summer Food Service Program.

Anoka-Hennepin will offer free meals for all children ages 2 to 18 at the 14 locations — 13 schools and one church. It is not necessary for the child to attend school at the host location, and sites will be offering different types of meal services. The locations will be closed July 4 and 5.

Adults may purchase meals with correct cash/change. (No checks, credit, or debit cards.)  Adult meal prices are $3.50 for lunch or brunch, $2 for breakfast, and $1 for snacks. All meals must be eaten at the site.

Patty Duenow, Anoka-Hennepin’s assistant director of child nutrition programs, said this year’s version of the Summer Food Service Program is much larger, going from four schools last year, to 13 this year.
