The Rogers Royals prevailed 2-1 over Park Center in a pitchers duel to open Section 5AAA play on Monday in Shoreview.
Katelyn Kemmetmueller, ninth-grade right-hander, gave up just one single and two walks, striking out seven, while hitting two batters.
The Royals took a 2-0 lead into the seventh when PC’s Kira Musial singled home M.J. Jellison.
No. 6 seeded Rogers (10-8) will meet No. 3 Spring Lake Park on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
For No. 11 Park Center (6-11), Jill Rosby twirled a four-hitter with three walks, one hit batter, and six strikeouts. However, she threw four wild pitches.
Madi Anderson was 2-for-3 for Rogers. She and Alex Cassidy scored the runs. There were no RBI’s.
In earlier action, Spring Lake Park outlasted the Rogers Royals 5-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday at Rogers, scoring two in the top of the 10th inning.
The Panthers had 11 hits and two walks against Rogers’ Katelyn Kemmetmueller, who had pitched 12 innings in a doubleheader Tuesday, then 10 more against SLP. She struck out six.
Lexi Luedtke and Maddy Wallroff each had three hits for the Panthers (10-4) and Aimee Thunburg had two hits and two RBI.
For Rogers (9-7), Madi Anderson, Olivia Olson, Kemmetmueller, and Elli Anderson were all 2-for-5. Kemmetmueller had two RBI and Elli Anderson and Kaitlynn Lloyd (1-for-2) had one each. Madi Anderson scored twice.
